Code of conduct
The following code of conduct applies to all attendees, speakers, sponsors, and volunteers at DevOlympics events. All attendees will be expected to follow this code. To ensure a safe environment, all participants are expected to cooperate.
A Brief Summary Everyone is welcome at our events, regardless of gender, gender identity, and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion (or lack thereof). Any form of harassment will not be tolerated. The use of sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for talks, workshops, DevOlympics parties, and online media. In case of violation, participants may be sanctioned, expelled from the event, and if necessary banned from future events.
The Long Version
Among the types of harassment are offensive verbal comments about gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, images of sexuality in public spaces, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, disrupting conversations or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Those who have been asked to stop harassing behavior must comply immediately.
The anti-harassment policy also applies to sponsors. It is essential that sponsors avoid using sexualized images, activities, or other materials. Staff (including volunteers) should not wear sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes or create a sexualized environment during an event. The event organizers may take any action they deem appropriate if a participant engages in harassment, including warnings, expulsion from the event without a refund, or barring the offender from future events.
Please get in touch with a staff member if you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns. At the beginning of the event, staff will identify themselves. You can also report incidents anonymously using this email address: david [at] devolympics dot com.
Your attendance is greatly appreciated. At event venues and on related online platforms, participants are expected to follow these rules.
Inclusion
All speakers, hosts, and sponsors are asked to use inclusive & gender-neutral language. Avoid using masculine and feminine pronouns (use “they” instead) and ableist terms (such as “crazy”, and “mental”).
Reporting an incident
A participant can report an incident directly to the event staff or via email at david [at] devolympics dot com
